Canoeing was excellent as well as the amazing walks.
Holly Tree house was excellent. Oli was an amazing host and nothing was too much trouble for him. The house itself was clean and very well equipped especially the kitchen. The views from every room were wonderful. The games room was a hit as well as the lovely hot tub.
We will definitely return.
Thanks Alka

Canoeing,
Visit to the Puzzle ForestAn interesting house with good facilities - a hot tub and games room are a big plus if the weather is poor.
Some good walks are easily accessed.

Yes, Lots! The Rope Ferry to the Saracen's Head and the 'Frog' ferry between the far bank and the Ferrie Inn were great fun and much enjoyed by the Grandchildren and adults alike! Fabulous walks - especially along to, and across the Biblin Bridge, then back to the Saracens Head for refreshment.some of our group walked up to Symonds Rock - great view down to the house and all around. Also easy to get to via a car for those less able. We did another of the 'Treasure Trails' in Ross-On-Wye (available in many towns - bought online) These take you to places you wouldn't normally find via a 'murder mystery trail' and have lots of interesting information. Other than that we mostly took advantage of the proximity of the river for kayaking, boating and paddle-boarding, bat and bird watching.

Canoeing on Wye a definite must
10/10 for Holly Tree House!!
Where do I start as everything was perfect.
We were met on arrival by Oli the manager, such a nice welcome, he showed us around the house and explained how everything worked. The house felt so calm and peaceful and we all immediately felt at home. It was so well equipped and we wanted for nothing.
The scenery is amazing with plenty to do and see. There’s a lovely pub on the other side of the river that we visited and used the hand pulled ferry to get over to it which fun for the kids. The views from the top of Yat Rock were amazing.
We all had a fantastic stay and there were tears when we had to leave.
We are already planning to go back.

Kayaking, walking up Yat Rock,
The house was so well equipped and comfortable. Oli the manager couldn’t do enough for us and although he lived next door he left us to enjoy the weekend.

Lazy weekend with the family but guests must definitely turn right when they leave the house and walk to the Biblins over the wire bridge and back up to The Saracens for a drink before catching the ferry back over(£2 for adults). Visit Monmouth, Tintern Abbey, Speech House Sculpture walk, Puzzlewood, Steam Train at park end ….. So much to see to suit all ages.
Beautiful house full of charm. We were so lucky with the weather and sat outside all weekend.
Ali and Oli were amazing and couldn’t do enough for us.

Holly Tree House, Symonds Yat West
A very well-equipped, clean and comfortable house in a stunning location - perfect for a large get-together (11 old mates). Lots of good walking along the river and up to the Yat; good local cafes and pubs for eating. Very good communication with the letting agent, and very good value for money. Thank you for facilitating our stay; we had a great time!

The house was brilliant for a big group. We were 11 doing the Macmillan Mighty Hike. Comfortable beds, very well equipped kitchen, super dining room for a large group, loved the hot tub. Beautiful surroundings.
Only thing I would add is that the fridge space for a large group wasn’t quite enough. The house could do with a drinks fridge but that’s just a minor issue. Would definitely come back.
Mary C 11.09.23 10/10
The house was very comfortable with plenty of space and a lovely well fitted kitchen; comfortable beds and great views across the valley.
The walk starting outside the property to the right leading through the woods and along the banks of the Wye until you meet the pedestrian bridge. Over the bridge and then walk along the other side of the river till you come to the Saracens pub. Obvious and enjoyable stop for lunch/dinner and then use the ferry to complete journey back across the Wye and a lovely stroll back to Holly Tree.

Hollytree House is a terrific house in a beautiful spot. River Wye just below, crags above, woods all around. Can't think of a better place to meet up with friends and have a fantastic three days. Loads of space and a particularly well equipped kitchen.

Perfect house in the perfect location. Walking down the river and in the woods is beautiful and peaceful. The views are great and look out for the Peregrines. The house has a games room, hot tub and BBQ area. Nowhere that we visited was far to drive to, always a plus for days out. If you like canoeing, going down the rapid was a real thrill.
YOFI paddlesports at Ye Olde Ferrie Inn - very friendly and helpful with a range of craft. Clearwell caves were more extensive than we thought, with lots to see. Goodrich Castle was a ruin but you could still explore, go down in the dungeon, climb the keep and walk round the moat. Yat Rock has great views and a lovely little cafe. The Butterfly farm and maze were really interesting. Treworgan field dog walking paddock if you have a nervous dog that needs a run out in a secure field.

The house was stunning with all of the right equipment needed. The kitchen had top quality pots and pans making cooking (and cleaning) a breeze.
We kayaked on the wye with “canoe on the wye” and did paintball with “Battlelands” both excellent.

Space was great , lots of room , liked number of ensuite bathrooms. The Kitchen was great, plenty of cooking space as was the large dining area. Possibly benefit from some larger cereal/ desert bowls could benefit with updating the bedrooms , but otherwise fab accommodation and did not detract from family gathering
Days out: Walk from the house to Monmouth via river path, also to yat rock, visit to Tintern Abbey. Pub near there did very good food.
Pippa 27.11.22 9/10
The property was very well suited for a party like ours: adequate cooking, dining and living space, well-presented and comfortable but not intimidating. On the whole it was very well equipped. A few small things that could have made our stay easier would have been - trays for carrying plates and cutler from the kitchen; clingfilm; and we couldn't find instructions on how to turn the heating down.
Days out: Obviously a trip up to Symonds Yat viewpoint, especially if the weather is fine. A party also made a successful trip to the caves.
Simon D 16.11.22 8/10
Property was a little tired but had everything we needed. It was clean and spacious hot tub was great and views were stunning
Days out: We spent the Saturday in Monmouth and had a great day. Use CDS from Coleford great mini bus company

Bickers Family 02.10.22 10/10
Great house for multi generational including 3 dogs get together oodles of flat carparking, its not super chique (all grey and white with mustard cushions) which is its appeal to us .. youre not worrying with little ones and dogs escaping or leaving footprints or finger prints or under tens tearing about with excitement or teens getting bored ..evening theres loads of little corners for chats or games and then of course up top there's the games room with table football and snooker and outside the hot tub and the decking and bbq ... bliss & stress free even though we were full to the brim most of the week. Copious walks on doorstep to suit all abilities, canoeing, paddleboarding, birdwatching, puzzlewood, golf
Simon W 21.09.22 8/10
The local area has some stunning walks along the river which we enjoyed, a lot and I would recommend this to anyone who is a keen birdwatcher, and to those who enjoy cycling running and walking in the countryside. The house managers were particularly helpful and friendly. The only thing that might need to be changed is that the website said that the house had a landline but we were told once we got there that there wasn't one. This was not a problem for our party, but might be an issue for anyone who may need to be in contact with anyone outside the area as there was no mobile phone reception in the area. However the internet service worked fine and this provided us the ability to contact any late arrivals who might have got lost on route.

The warm welcome we received was excellent .
The house was a little tired looking and there were few technical minor issues such as one kettle not working and a bedside table lamp not working and the hot tub was not particularly warm but NOT one of these affected the perfect score of 10. The cleaning staff at end of our stay were such lovely ladies and genuinely were pleased to hear that we’d had a great time . THANK YOU

This is our second family break at Holly Tree House ; beautiful scenery, plenty of activities inside and outside and a wonderful opportunity for the family to be together!
Lizzie H 12.07.22 8/10
The house was perfect for our friends hen do - plenty of space for everyone and the location was ideal.
The only aspect we would say could have been improved on was the cleanliness of the house (main complaint was just cobwebs!!)
Overall really pleased with the house & booking/check-in process and would use BHHL again.
charlotte H 10.07.22 9/10

We had the best time with our family..we love the house and the exquisite setting..we have been 5 years ago...the games room is a great addition..
The house was extremely clean and contained everything we could wish for especially in the kitchen..our party ranged from 6 to 75..and everyone found things to do..games room/hottub etc..or just sitting outside loving the view and birdsong...
Various walks from the house and using the ferry enhanced our visit especially seeing 2 kingfisher and watching kestrel.
David M 21.06.22 9/10
Brilliant stay with, apart from a day of rain outside your control a great time was had by all (10 adults and 4 children.
Only minor problem was a power cut late afternoon on Sunday w2hich did compromise tv progs but also caused some excitement
Deb P 02.06.22 7/10

Could do with a large chopping board, and a bigger coffee po
Kara C 20.05.22 9/10
We loved the relaxed atmosphere of the house and all the girls loved the hot tub. The rooms were great and beds really comfy. The only things we could have done with would be some doorstops for the door between the entrance hall and the dining room area and also some larger bowls (we could only find soup style bowls which weren’t great for cereal 😂). Everything else was perfect, couldn’t fault it.
Pamela R 20.04.22 8/10
Loved the stunning location. Plenty of walking trails.
Property just a little tired, but has everything you need and is very comfortable and clean
Mark D 05.04.22 9/10
Really like the location, I liked the fact the hot tub had a cover and the games room was used every day by our family. Everything we needed made the weekend very enjoyable. Would come again.
Bernadette W 28.03.22 10/10
The house is very well appointed especially the Kitchen which is the best equipped kitchen we have had.
The rooms are mostly en-suite and the top play room proved very popular with the whole family.
The Hot Tub is large and after a long walk was the perfect way to relax.
Sky TV was perfect for one of our group who is quite frail
and couldn’t join in all the activities. WiFi was very good in most of the house.
I will be recommending to friends and family as a great place to stay.
I can absolutely recommend Holly Tree House

Very well equipped but could do with some tea towels and small sharp knives.
Hot tub a joy for all age groups

The house is a little tired but clean and spacious. For a group of 18 it was excellent value for money. The hot tub was enjoyed by everyone and the outdoor space was really good with a barbecue big enough to cook for 18! Days out - Wye Adventures offer canoeing, and abseiling both of which we took part in as a large group and they were really helpful and great value.
Manon S - 29.06.21
The hot tub is fantastic, the kitchen is well-equipped, the beds are comfy. We loved our stay. Days out - The walk up the river is fantastic and you can take kayaks down the river as well
