Food ready when you arrive at the Anchor

There’s a particular moment at the start of a big group weekend.
Everyone has finally arrived. Cars have been unloaded. Bedrooms have been claimed. Someone’s opened the first bottle of wine. Everyone is talking at once.
And then somebody says…
“So, what are we doing about dinner?”

If you’re staying at The Anchor in Lydbrook, there’s now a very good answer to that question.

The Anchor has teamed up with local chef T'licious Food in Ross-on-Wye to offer guests a wonderfully easy option for that first evening — homemade food, ordered in advance and waiting for you when you arrive.

Your first night, sorted

After a long journey, cooking for a houseful of people probably isn't top of anyone's holiday wish list.

Nor is trying to organise a takeaway order for 20 people while simultaneously working out who doesn't eat mushrooms, who wants extra rice and who has mysteriously disappeared upstairs.

Instead, you can choose your dishes before your stay and T'licious will prepare them ready for you. Once your order is confirmed, your food will be waiting at The Anchor when you arrive.

All you need to do is heat it, serve it and get on with enjoying your evening.

Proper food for a hungry crowd

And this isn't just a choice between two enormous trays of “something beige”.

You could tuck into beef chilli, chicken and vegetable curry, pulled pork goulash or butternut and sweet potato curry, with the larger dishes serving around 10–12 people.

There are hearty tray-bakes too, including beef lasagne, lamb moussaka, smoked fish and egg pie and roast vegetable lasagne, plus quiches, salads, soups and sides.

And obviously we aren't going to overlook pudding.

Chocolate fudge brownies, banoffee blondies or lemon drizzle cake?

We feel this may require considerably less group discussion than deciding who gets which bedroom.

Less organising. More holiday.

That's really what this new service is all about.

A stay at The Anchor is time to get everyone together, relax and enjoy the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. If dinner can be sitting there waiting for you rather than becoming the first logistical challenge of the weekend, even better.

Pour the drinks. Put dinner in the oven. Sit down.
