We loved the fact we didn’t need to go anywhere in the car to enjoy the long weekend. Walking from the house was great, dogs were very happy and no sheep! Perfect. We managed to use our canoe and paddle boards on the weir in the field opposite the house, so close to home. A couple of people ventured out to Forest of Dean and a bird sanctuary and enjoyed their time there.
We were a large family of 23, mostly adults with 2 being disabled and 5 kids under 14 also and we did 6 nights (mon-Fri). Prior to arriving we had good communication from Mike the caretaker/housekeeper who told us what’s what.
The house fitted everyone comfortably and offered everything that we needed. Bedrooms were ideal especially those downstairs for ones in the party with mobility issues. Plenty of space for everyone to socialise inside and out. And also plenty of room for the dogs to stretch out.
We had a heatwave so only used the hot tub a few times unfortunately.
We went down to the river and jumped in which was refreshing, water shoes advised as lots of rocks.
Monmouth town centre was only a 20min walk away so quick drive so that was ideal. A few takeaways nearby, Chinese, Indian, fish & chips. My wife and I went to a lovely Mexican restaurant called Moko’s one night which I’d recommend.
We also canoeing and paddle boarding at Symonds Yat which is a short drive away. There is a lovely pub and beer garden right next to it so could spend a few hours there.
Feedback for future (which is minor) is to perhaps invest in those insect nets. There is no air con in the property and because we had the windows open all day due to the heat naturally some bugs came in which didn’t go down well with some. Also to either plumb in a water cooler or get one of those special taps as the cold water didn’t actually get that cold and would have been welcomed on the hot days we had.
“The owners have thought of everything in this beautiful dog friendly house with secure courtyard at the rear entrance. The House was clean, spacious and so well equipped. The location is beautiful – right on the river so perfect for walks. The town centre is within walking distance with lovely independent shops, bars and Cafe as well as a big Waitrose. Thank you for all your help from booking to payment all with ease.
We all had a great time.
Thanks again

The house & its facilities are great for large groups. The house is well stocked with everything that you would need.
The house also has an EV charger. Mike was incredibly helpful in getting this to work with our EV. We left the house with a full battery for our journey home. Thanks Mike.
Booked the Manor on the monnow for my
mother in-laws 70th birthday to get all the family in one house as we are a family of 22. We had amazing service from start to finish, when enquiring to book Alison was fab and always kept in contact, few days before Mike the house keeper contacted to introduce hisself and see what tim we wanted to arrive so could meet us there and also on the day messaging to confirm time. When we arrive Mike was waiting at the door to greet us and was so friendly, amazing with the kids letting them being part of the tour of the house when showing us around.
The Manor is clean and spacious and catered for everyone, hot tub and games room was a big hit with not just the kids … adults too😀. Large dinning room to fit all around the table to chat and eat was and all sit together was nice, then evening in the lounge with plenty space and wood fire for evening drinks and games altogether.
Kids loved the out door area in the day time being able to run and play out door game as Manor had plenty of land around.
Would definitely return.

We really enjoyed ourselves. Mike was very welcoming and informative.

We throughly enjoyed our stay at the manor, there was so much space that everyone could enjoy different aspects. The children (cousin) absolutely loved having the freedom to explore inside and outside, watch tv, play games and socialise with each other.
The adults enjoyed the fishing, the grounds hot tub and games room enabling them to relax and socialise.
Kitchen was excellently kitted out allowing us to explore our different cooking skills.
We spent our time mainly at the manor, catching up with the family participating in walks, games and activities within the manor

Donna J -05.03.24 - 10/10
We enjoyed a walk into Monmouth but the house lends itself to spending all our time there. Space and facilities for fun, laughter, chilling and special family memories.
It was a perfect family gathering, it was the second visit for the 23 of us and we will be back again.
Graig W -13.02.24 - 9/10
We had the most wonderful stay at the manor house. It is so perfect for hosting a celebration and all guests had a thoroughly amazing time. The setting was ideal for our murder mystery evening held in the dining room. The only one minor drawback were the amount of single beds in the property when all guests were couples. We appreciate that the house needs to cater for all types of guests and visitors but the majority of rooms had single beds. That aside we had a memorable time there and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to any large group looking to book. A strong 9.5 out of 10!

Excellent house for a large family gathering over New year. Suited all ages, with plenty of space for gathering and eating together and to find a quite spot for chatting or reading etc. Younger people enjoyed the games room and hot tub and main hall was ideal for our silent disco!
Lynette S - 01.01.24 - 10/10
Mainly stayed in the house as we were celebrating Christmas
Deborah L-22.11.23 - 9/10
We had a fabulous weekend with our family of 10 teens/twenties, 11 adults and a baby. There was plenty of room at the property, a snug with a tv, the games room and main hall occupied all of us in the evenings with games and chat. The hot tub was a lovely treat after a long walk. The rooms are all spacious and clean, plenty of hot water. We will definitely be returning.
We stayed local, would recommend a walk or drive into Monmouth. Plenty of parking, shops to wander round and cafes for a coffee.
The Manor on the Monnow was fabulous. We were 23 all family and all age groups. The games room was a hit as was the hot tub. The house is so spacious and has underfloor heating throughout the ground floor, upstairs has central heating. Although it’s such a large house it felt warm and welcoming. The kitchen is well equipped and the dining room sat everyone comfortably. The large lounge was perfect for pre dinner drinks and then relaxing afterwards as there is plenty of seating. The walk into Monmouth was all on the flat and very pleasant. Great time was had by all, and the manager (Mike) who met us upon arrival, was so friendly and very helpful in explaining how everything in the house worked, he really was excellent.
Had another fantastic week at High Cloud Farm. Even at the end of October the swimming pool was a big draw, as was the hot tub!
Vivienne W 04.11.23 - 10/10
We think that the house is great for a large family celebration especially the large lounge which is perfect for relaxing together after dinner. The outside space was lovely for family games.
Walk into Monmouth is lovely if you are only staying for a short time.

Easy walk into Monmouth
John W - 29.08.23 - 9/10
All 19 of us really enjoyed the week we spent at Manor on the Monnow. It was great to have so much space both inside and out. Hide and seek was very popular with the children! I know this probably isn't possible but those with some mobility issues couldn't get down to the river.
Canoeing on the River Wye at Symonds Yat.
Alan K -29.08.23 - 9/10
Canoeing from Monmouth to whitewbrook brilliant for all ages (4 to 76!)
We booked Manor on the Monnow for a family holiday from 18th to 25th August 2023 as part of our Golden Wedding celebrations. There were 19 of us which included 10 children. The house was great. Clean and tidy but not so "posh" that we were afraid to give the children free range. Many games of Hide and Seek, announcements from the balcony above the Great Hall, and plenty of table space for the evening meal. We ate, Indian, Chinese, USA, Roast Chicken, Spanish, Mexican and Italian - all cooked in the kitchen which had plenty of equipment. Additionally, we celebrated my birthday, so the dining hall was splendidly decorated. One present was a hanging dinner bell so that resounded throughout the house before each mealtime. Some walked up Sugar Loaf, some walked by the river Wye, some canoed, some used the Hot Tub. Everyone used the Games Room at some point during the week. We all visited Monmouth and Symonds Yat. So many things left undone though. A fabulous week enjoyed by all 19 of us.

We enjoyed the outside space, the hot tub, the fact that there were 22 of us and it did not feel crowded. The layout of the rooms, all with ensuite/adjacent bathrooms makes it ideal for families.
Daniel B - 20.06.- 23 9/10
Perfect space and size for our family get together. Rooms all of a good size and layout was perfect.
Helen L - 10.06.23 - 9/10
Fortunately the weather was glorious, and we were able to enjoy the patio area in the evenings.
The house was excellent, with plenty of space for our 16 adults, 1 teenager and 7 children . The only criticism we had was the limited worktop space in the kitchen. A large island or larger table in the middle would have been useful.
We went to Symonds Yat and Tintern Abbey. Both were really good in different ways. At Symonds Yat we crossed the river via the rope pull boat which the children enjoyed . Tintern Abbey was interesting for the adults, and there was plenty of grassy areas for the children to run round.
Miyah W - 30.05.23 - 10/10
The house was so big we kept getting lost. Lovely garden for the kids to play in and the beds were so comfy! We all had the best weekend.
Thank you.
The Butterfly zoo was really good the kids really enjoyed. Short walk into town was lovely to look around

The only thing we all commented on was the outside furniture: we’d have loved more moveable chairs and tables, and a couple more sun-loungers! The weather was amazing and the benches and picnic benches were in the shade all day! Apart from that we were so impressed with the house, it was perfect for us. Hot showers, comfy beds, plenty of seating indoors, and the kitchen is really well set up for a large group. The house manager was really friendly and informative, and we felt very welcome there. We’ve already booked again for next year!
We did some lovely walks and runs from the house, varying distances from 5k to 15k. We had a day paddleboarding and canoeing on the Wye with WyeAdventures. and most of us walked down to the rowing club from the house. Some of us drove to a ruined castle and swimming spot on the Monnow, which was beautiful. We also mountain biked in the Forest of Dean, leaving from the house. It’s an excellent location if you want an active break. We want to explore Monmouth next time as it looks really interesting.
Helen M - 23.05.23 9/10
Lovely space indoor and out.
Days out: Canoeing, Paddle boarding, Walking , Cycling
Susan G - 02.05.23 10/10
It was perfect in every way. The older children and adults enjoyed the badminton net then later on played snooker and table tennis in the games room. We had a rota for the jacuzzi, the weather helped of course as its a perfect spot for sunbathing and even a bit of fishing, Jule caught a brown trout with a worm from the garden, took a photo then threw it back to live another day. Saturday night was party night with lots of dancing, you can't beat a good old fashioned conga round such a beautiful venue. I can't praise it enough as they all want to make a return visit next year health and funds allowing.
Days Out: We were only there for a weekend so we spent all one day enjoying the beautiful garden. The Sunday was misty so half the group went to Goodrich castle, only a few miles away and a fabulous 12thc structure with a dungeon and plenty left to explore. If you like castles this is well worth a visit. We were only there for a weekend so we spent all one day enjoying the beautiful garden. We loved the hot tub. We thought it could do with a clock there. The comfortable bedrooms, most en suite were also appreciated We enjoyed having a choice of sitting areas. Days out: The Angidy Trail (Tintern) Hergest Croft Garden (Kington) Walk from Monmouth to Whitchurch and back
Luke B - 18.04.23 10/10
The house is fantastic. Quite simply it has everything. Lots to keep the kids entertained, very spacious and lovely setting (garden, touching distance of the river). Days Out: The town is very pretty and lots of history. We really enjoyed walking in to town and puttering around the shops
Dan H - 16.04.23 10/10
The location and facilities were absolutely perfect for us. The property was a great place to return to after a long day of hard training at the rowing club. We'd love to come back in the future
Yvonne C - 15.04.23 - 8/10
The area is good lots of places to visit or enjoy some of lte lovely walks in the country side. Days out: We went to Perrymore Railway which was enjoyed by every one. We also visited Eastnor Castle and Clearwell mines.
Angela F - 31.03.23 10/10
House is great, rooms are a really good size and plenty of space for people to have their own time if needed. Only thing that would improve is some hot tub specific towels, but a minor thing as overall the house was perfect. Check in was really easy, house manager was very helpful with everything, only positive comments from all guests. Thanks for the great weekend!
Tom W 28.02.23 9/10
Everything was great
Michael B 10.02.23 10/10
The space to be all together all 24 of us and plenty of room to be able to be in smaller groups if needed
Days out: We only walked into town for a walk. We had so much fun just staying in the house and using the facilities.
Sheila B 10.02.23 10/10
We enjoyed being together playing games in the house. Days out: we only walked into town.
Blaise P 24.01.23 8/10
The house was wonderful. A relaxed and friendly welcome from the house manager. Great communication with the agency throughout.
Very happy from start to finish, would recommend. Days out: Since it was January we didn't venture out much but an easy frosty stroll into town was enjoyed by all. Plenty of pubs and cafes in walking distance.
Morgan H 20.01.23 10/10
The Manor was ideal for our party on all levels, you can not improve on perfection.
Deborah M 09.01.23 10/10
Just the opportunity to get the whole team together, with their families. The amount of space in the house was perfect
Tracy D 04.01.23 10/10
Days out: Monmouth Town
Shirley P 20.12.22 10/10
The space, facilities and room were great, loved the Hot Tub, Patio area and games room.
We spent a lot of time playing games in the dining room, It was great that all the rooms had their own bathrooms
We felt that a TV in the main room would have been better for our party due to wanting to watch Christmas Films as a large group.
The oven on the right hand cooker does not stay hot the gas keeps going out and the oven does not remain at temperature even when you can get the gas to stay alight.
Days out: We walked into town, which was lovely and it was nice to see the fortified bridge. Some of us attended church for the Carol Service, which we very much enjoyed. Some of our party went climbing locally which they really enjoyed
Debbie T 26.12.22 10/10
We had a fantastic stay, the property was spacious which enabled 6 families to socialise perfectly ,
Kitchen facilities were amazing.
The only suggestion we could make to improve our stay would be less chlorine in the hot tub,
Thank you for an amazing experience.
Jayne B 14.12.22 9/10
The warm house was cosy throughout and very comfortable.
There were a few issues such as light bulbs out, no salt or pepper in the salt/pepper cellars, not enough dishwasher tabs, but these niggles were minor and easily resolvable.
Days out: Symonds Yat walks
Sara W 09.12.22 10/10
We thoroughly enjoyed the space that Manor on the Monnow has for our extended family aged 0-67.
Each bedroom space was different so could be matched to different needs . The huge quiet lounge with its minstrels gallery had been magnificently decorated for Christmas and the log burner added another atmospheric touch. The snug was brimful of beautiful toys as well as a TV.
We have a family get together every year with the intention of cooking together eating together and catching up with conversations . This house provided by far the best experience we have had.
The manager Mike warmly welcomed us I and the house itself remained beautifully warm throughout our weekend stay despite the December temperatures outside.
The hot tub was well maintained at the correct hygienic levels and provided another chat space for those who wished with the soothing sound of the rushing river in the background.
We hope to return at the same time next year when the many local attractions could be explored .
A huge Thankyou from all 23 members for a really lovely weekend at The Manor on the Monnow.
Mike S 29.11.22 10/10
House manager Mike is a great guy, really welcoming and knowledgable. A big plus is how warm the house is. We expected a large draughty old house.
Quality of fittings and beds very high. We will be back
Marilena W 28.11.22 10/10
The house is spacious and great fun and is better equipped than we could ever have hoped for. It was good to have the games room for the more active members of our group and the snug for some quiet times. There was a problem with the central heating as one of the boilers went off and the house gradually cooled down. However, when we realised and let Mike know, the matter was resolved extremely promptly. So, nothing but glowing words for The Manor on the Monnow!
Mark R 15.11.22 10/10
The games room was a particular hit,; heating plates in the dining room; two dish washers; two fridges; very comfortable beds; good showers.
Donna J 01.10.22 10/10
The space is amazing. The kitchen is so well equipped, the dining rooms were great for small groups having a snack to 25 of us having a special meal.
Everyone had fun in the hot tub, it was ready to use at any time which was great. We will definitely be spending more family celebrations at the house. We walked into Monmouth which was lovely. Other than that we enjoyed family time at the house
Jacqueline D 17.02.22 10/10
All the facilities were great.
John D 09.09.22 10/10
The house was perfect for our needs.
Naomi M 20.08.22 10/10
The house is beautiful with ample space for a large group. We were blessed with gorgeous sunshine and made good use of the river. The bedrooms were ideally spaced and organised and the kitchen had everything we needed to cater for our large group. We go on holiday every other year as a family and this has been the best house we’ve stayed in to date.
Improvement - the gate to the river could be more secure. We had a lot of children in our party and we couldn’t fully relax as the gate was low and not secure so we were constantly on watch to make sure no one escaped down to the river unsupervised.
Dee B 13.08.22 10/10
Fantastic house. Fully stocked with everything you could need. The house manager, Mike was very communicative and helpful.
The only feedback was more tee towels.
Neil D 30.07.22 10/10
Just a fantastic house. All bedrooms have their own bathrooms. Nice big dinning room. Nice & quiet
Inbal D 30.07.22 8/10
The house is lovely. Rooms are clean and all have their own bathrooms. Games room is really good and great dining room to fit all 23 of us, with hot plates for the food
Peter M 26.07.22 10/10
Well kept well equipped house, ideal for our needs.
Harriat B 09.07.22 8/10
More reliable wifi - virtually non existent at the far end of the house especially in the upstairs room at the far end.
Perhaps a set of kitchen scales and an electric hand mixer would be very useful in the kitchen.
Property very clean - thank you
Wendy B 03.06.22 10/10
The house was fantastic. Mike was amazing.
Rebekah J 31.05.22 9/10
The house had plenty of places to socialise, the beds were comfy, kitchen was fab, loved the hot tub and shower and our room was lovely. In our room the walk in wardrobe and chest of drawers weren’t as clean as everywhere else, with a few things left behind from previous guests. Also the WIFI was very slow and didn’t reach to all places in the house, as multiple of us had to do some work while away this was tricky however we understand this may be unavoidable.
All in all the house was just lovely, beautiful grounds and we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Perfect for big family get together, we had dogs and children and was suited to all. Thank you!
Sun Kin SL 31.05.22 10/10
I was impressed by the facilities available, from the children's books and rocking horses to the hand soap in every bathroom and extra loo rolls. The manager Mike was very friendly and helpful. The location was ideal, we were away from it all yet my brother-in-law was still only 15 mins walk away from his favourite coffee shop. But honestly for a long weekend stay there was enough to do for all the family to not need to leave the house. Our party ranged in age from 18 months to 80 years old.
Joanne L 23.04.22 10/10
It was all perfect
Maria H 19.04.22 9/10
Just loved the house and garden
Mike the manager was so kind and helpful
Lana G 05.04.22 10/10
The house had everything we needed. Extremely well equipped, great location, heating excellent and massive space for a group of 21. Brilliant. We hope to return
Jenny S - 18.02.22 9/10
It's a great house, fab for families or friends getting together. There are plenty of bedrooms and plenty of space but with a very large lounge with a gorgeous log burner to get together in the evenings
Paul H - 15.02.22 10/10
Everything was there and worked - heating was great for this time of year for the size of property - the games room was heavily used - the kitchen having double cookers, dishwashers etc made self-catering work easily for the numbers. Nothing to improve upon, it was a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. We'll highly recommend it to anyone looking for a large family gathering. The handovers and interaction with the BHHL team was great.
Maria H - 18.01.22 10/10
House was warm clean and had everything we needed, plenty of space. We particularly liked the main seating room with adjourning games room particularly the pool table.
Mike was very helpful and attended quickly to an issue with the heating and hot water
Gary P - 24.12.21 10/10
I think that there should be an endless supply of wood for the burner..
Michael was excellent!! Very helpful …
Linda T - 02.11.21 10/10
The house was fantastic, very clean and airy and just the right size for our party. We loved the massive lounge where we could all congregate. The games room was great and so was the hot tub. Very well equipped kitchen which matched the size of the property/number of guests. Also loved the fact that we could all sit around the table in the dining room. Lovely gardens. Liked the fact that we were met at the house by Mike who explained everything we needed to know so it felt more personal.
The only downside for us which is very minor and couldnt be changed was that the downstairs bedroom 11 the bathroom was across the kitchen (which didnt suit my 90 year old motherinlaw as too far away) - it was resolved by her staying in bedroom 10 with en-suite but there were still a few stairs for her to go up to get into the bedroom.
All in all every single one of us enjoyed our stay and our ages were from 13 to 90 years old.
We are now thinking of booking a return visit...
Nicky B - 21.10.21 10/10
What an amazing property! Visited with a group 25 which included babies, children, adults & Grandmas! The accommodation was just perfect and Jan, Lewis, Mike & Jonathan from BHHL couldn’t have been more helpful. We had booked with them before at a different property and will definitely be booking again!
Julie H - 04.10.21 10/10
We loved the house and the hot tub. The games room was great, and toys for children were great. The kitchen was very well stocked, with 2 fridges and 2 dishwashers.
Can't reallt think of anything to improve. Would love to stay again. Days out - We stayed in, as we are local to monmouth anyway.
Forest of Dean, jubilee maze, butterfly Park, raglan Castle, Dewchurch Gardens, labels, monmouth, walk to Biblins, tintern - are just a few
David Y - 21.09.21 10/10
The Manor is a fabulous property with everything you need. All 19 in the party were delighted with the location, the Manor and its facilities. A lot of attention to detail has clearly gone into its design. We would love to come back.
Linda S - 27.08.21
The house and grounds were very comfortable and spacious, plenty of room for people to have their own space and for the children to play.
We were disappointed that the access to the river wasn't better, so we didn't venture down there.
We enjoyed our mini break very much. Days out - Tintern Abbey
Kathyrn M - 18.08.21
Lovely house with plenty of space. Great rooms, bedding, towels and well stocked kitchen.
John M - 23.07.21
We were so fortunate to have such a large property for 6 of us, it gave us so much space which was very appreciated. The house manager was fantastic , efficient, professional, friendly and very helpful. Also we can't say enough about the property. We loved it. It was tasteful but not overdone, practical, our bedroom was charming and kept in character with the Manor. We had a lovely feeling from the property generally, It was comfortable, had a lot of light, the games room was great as was the hot tub, and the kitchen was well equipped. The only recommendation we could offer is that more attention to cleaning would be good. We appreciate the Manor is a very large property though and hadn't been rented for a few weeks. All good wishes to the owner and Mike the house manager. Days out - Puzzle wood, Symonds Yat on the cliff for views, Dewstow Gardens, Garway Knights Templar Church, Cheptow Castle.
