Looking for an excuse to gather the family and escape to the Wye Valley this summer? This year's calendar includes two brilliant events that are perfect for all ages.
First comes the return of the Coleford Busking Festival, where musicians fill the historic streets with live performances throughout the day. Whether you enjoy acoustic guitars, singers or simply soaking up the atmosphere, it's a lovely way to spend a summer Saturday. The event is also helping raise funds for the return of the Coleford Music Festival.
During the school holidays there's even more to enjoy with free entry to the Dean Heritage Centre's family summer programme. It offers a relaxed day exploring local heritage, woodland surroundings and activities aimed at keeping younger visitors entertained without stretching the holiday budget.
The best part?
When you're staying in one of our large holiday houses nearby, the day doesn't finish when you leave the attraction.
The closest of our large houses are these:
Forest House, right in the centre of Coleford
Brookside in whitchurch
Hollytree at Symonds Yat
Head back for a barbecue.
Challenge everyone to table football.
Relax in the hot tub.
Or simply sit in the garden while the children continue playing.
That's the beauty of staying together.
There's no rushing to separate hotel rooms or finding somewhere for everyone to meet again later.
The holiday carries on.
If you have time, combine these events with riverside walks, Symonds Yat viewpoints, woodland trails or one of the area's many welcoming pubs.

The Forest of Dean and Wye Valley always reward people who slow down and explore.
Just don't let Syd convince you he's the headline act at the Busking Festival...

Coco certainly isn't buying it.
She's far too busy keeping an eye on anyone carrying an packet of crips.
