Englands Gate Inn is a 16th century public house in the beautiful village of Bodenham, Herefordshire. We have seven ensuite guest rooms in our Coach house.
Our restaurant is the perfect destination for casual dining with family and friends.
We serve a mouth watering selection of traditional pub fayre. This can be enjoyed inside or outside in our large garden.
Your Plate or Mine
Similar to the luxury private dining service, we can cater for your group at a location of your choice. This can work really well if you have hired a holiday cottage for a long weekend and would like to hire a private chef to take care of the cooking. This takes the pressure off and means that you can totally relax and enjoy your break, whilst we take care of the dishes! We offer a variety of catering options along with your own private chef.

Our Head Chef, Gabor Katona, has created delicious, brasserie-style menus with a combination of contempory, traditional and favourite dishes and fresh fish from the market, as well as a brilliant afternoon tea menu and a sharing Deli Board, which he designed and handmade himself!
The Moody Cow
In 2023 we celebrated twelve years since saving the Moody Cow from closure.
Since then we have adopted a simple vision, to create the experience for our guests that we would like ourselves when we go out to dine. To us, this means authentic home made food cooked with care, using the finest most local ingredients in an inclusive, welcoming environment, and that includes your family pet!
You may already be aware that we have always done a great deal to reduce our impact on the environment by sourcing our ingredients as locally as possible, often using ingredients from our own kitchen garden, composting our vegetable waste, recycling over 90% of our general waste, reducing our consumption of single use plastic and using renewable sources of energy.
In 2022 we planted over 5000 trees in the developing world and during 2023 we will be donating 1% of our net profit to local sustainability projects
The Potting Shed, Whitchurch, Herefordshire
The Potting Shed has become a well-loved place for many people. Since 2014 we have seen our secret little garden café become ever more popular, prompting our move to this fabulous new location.
